SCORG V2023 New Release and Webinars

Posted on March 6, 2023

PDM Analysis Ltd is pleased to announce the release of the latest version of its software, SCORG V2023.

SCORG is a unique software for designing and analyzing positive displacement machines such as screw compressors, expanders, pumps, and motors.

This release is a significant step into design exploration. Many new features have been introduced to help companies analyze and design screw machines more efficiently and effectively.

Here are some of the new features you can encounter in SCORGTM v2023:

  • New integration with the Patented ‘N’ Rotor Profile from City, University of London for Twin Screw Machines. Licensed users can readily take benefit of this feature.
  • The Design Exploration Framework has been upgraded for complete parametric analysis of these machines.
  • SCORGTM thermodynamic multi-chamber model has new inputs for defining Gas diluted in oil for fluid injection and the Mass ratio of Oil-to-Gas at suction for applications such as refrigeration and multi-staging.
  • Twin Screw Expander thermodynamic chamber model has been improved, with analysis reports and performance plots. A tutorial and test case have been provided for this module.
  • Thermodynamic Performance Maps such as specific power and efficiency vs rotational speed can now be directly plotted in SCORGTM GUI using the new chart utility. With the New version, multiple Design Points can now be directly compared on these plots.
  • The NIST – REFPROP 10 integration and real fluid definitions are available for both compressors and expanders.
  • SCORGTM thermodynamic multi-chamber model has an improved convergence and calculation speed for this purpose.
  • Calculation and Post-Processing of rotor deflections due to operating loads have been added in this new release to complement the bearing selection module added to SCORG recently.
  • SCORG Grid module, our state-of-the-art combination of analytical and differential grid generation for leading commercial CFD solvers such as ANSYS CFX, ANSYS FLUENT, Simerics-MP+, Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM CFD, results in the best numerical mesh in the market for rotary positive displacement flow machines with helical screw rotors or gears.
  • The full functionality is made available in the Design Exploration Framework along with CAD export to ANSYS Forte CFD solver.
  • new templates and multi-objective optimization functionality for the GT-Suite solver from Gamma Technologies. The integration of SCORG and GT-Suite utilizes a variety of optimization routines built in GT-SUITE and can be based on either SCORG or GT-Suite performance solvers.

SCORG can also be used on Microsoft Azure virtual machines with our SCORG alto cloud platform. Try it here.

To better understand these new features and how they can help you, we will be hosting a weekly webinar series hosted by our experts Prof. Ahmed Kovacevic and Dr. Sham Rane. Whether you are an existing user or still on the fence about obtaining a license, this webinar series is for you.
