SCORG V2025 New Release and Webinar Series
PDM Analysis Ltd is pleased to announce the SCORG V2025 New Release and Webinar Series.
SCORG is a leading software solution for the design and analysis of screw compressors, expanders, pumps, and motors. It provides a powerful combination of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and a Thermodynamic Multi-Chamber Model to accurately assess the performance and operation of positive displacement machines. With SCORG, users can generate complete 3D designs of screw machines, streamlining the entire design process. The software enhances efficiency and reduces effort by enabling detailed geometry analysis, preliminary thermodynamic assessments, grid generation, and the comprehensive design of rotary positive displacement machines..
What to expect with SCORG V2025
SCORG v2025 is a major release that features a fully modular licensing and additional utilities such as rotor tooling. New features have been introduced to model Vacuum pumps with Quimby rotor profile, Internally Geared Screw Machines IGSM as well as the 3D CAD design of screw compressor elements.
The major new features in SCORG v2025 are as follows:
- Rotor Clearance distribution and Manufacturing Tool Generation
- Licensed rotor profiles.
- Contact forces and stress calculation.
- Graphical display of the clearance and tool profiles.
- Modelling of vacuum pumps with Quimby profile
- Profile generation of Quimby profile traditionally used in vacuum pumps. It is now possible to generate Quimby rotor profile that suit the specific requirements of the application of a vacuum pump.
- Generation of geometry features for vacuum pumps with uniform and variable pitch such as volume curve, port areas, leakage areas.
- Multi-chamber thermodynamic calculation of dry vacuum pumps with or without cooling jacket as well as with water injection in the working chamber.
- Modelling of Internally Geared Screw Machines (IGSM)
- Profile generation of novel IGSM profile for compressors and expanders.
- Generation of geometry features for IGSM such as volume curve, port areas, leakage areas.
- Multi-chamber thermodynamic calculation of dry IGSM as well as with oil injection in the working chamber.
- Parametric 3D CAD design and integration with AUTODESK Inventor
- The full parametric 3D CAD Design and mechanical design of rotors and casings for screw machines. This allows 3D display of rotors and housings in SCORG.
- 3D CAD of compressor rotors in SCORG and export to variety of CAD formats
- Full parametric integration with AUTODESK Inventor.
- Modular SCORG Licensing
- Thermodynamics, Grid and SCORG Package form the basis of new SCORG licensing to which the users can add modules.
- Rotor profiles such as Patented ‘N’ rotor profile, Quimby, IGSM, Roots, Pumps can now be added as separately licensed features.
- Machine types for twin screw compressors, expanders, IGSM, Vacuum pumps can be selected.
- Grid generation for specific machine types can be added.
Apart of that, improvements have been made in multi-chamber thermodynamic model:
- SCORG thermodynamic multi-chamber model has new inputs and equations for calculation of the viscosity of lubricant in the compression process. We introduced MacCoull viscosity model which requires inputs of viscosities at temperature of 40 oC and 100oC.
- The NIST – REFPROP 10 integration and real fluid definitions are available for both compressors and expanders. SCORG thermodynamic multi-chamber model has an improved convergence and calculation speed for calculation of mixtures of fluids.
- GT-SCORG system model has been introduced in GT-SUITE V2025
Release v2025 also features new templates and extended manuals and tutorials.
SCORG can also be used on Microsoft Azure virtual machines with our SCORG alto cloud platform. Try it here.
