As one of the founding members of CERES, PDM Analysis delegates participated in the launching meeting of the Industrial Consortium on 13 May 2022.
The meeting comprised two parts:
- the welcome presentation and the official kick-off of CERES and
- project proposal presentations delivered by researchers from City, University of London with a discussion afterwards
Also, we had the pleasure of visiting the test cells of the Thermo-Fluids Research Centre (TFRC) at City, University of London and speaking with the City’s researchers about their current projects.
Visited test cells:
- NextORC
- Micro gas turbine
- Thermal energy storage
- Compressor test rig (photo)
- Roots blower test rig
- Internally geared test rig
The TFRC is an internationally leading centre in fundamental and applied research in fluid flow, heat and mass transfer and fluid-structure interactions. You can read more about their work here.
CERES (Compressors and Expanders in futuRe Energy Systems) provides a forum for industry and academia to coordinate pre-commercial (TRL 1-3) research on industry-relevant compression technologies for the energy transformation sector.
PDM Analysis joined the Industrial Consortium because of numerous advantages, for example:
- Access to cutting-edge and affordable research with a high leverage ratio
- Access to advanced experimental and numerical facilities at the Centre for Compressor Technology and Thermo-Fluids Research Centre at City, University of London
- Active participation in ongoing projects and steering of research directions
- Provide input and directions on the future research topics and project ideas
- Access to opportunities to form teams with the world-leading academics to reach more significant governmental funds
